Digtial Content Internship

British Shooting is offering a digital content internship beginning in July to help support the organisation throughout the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and beyond. The 22 per hour a week, paid role, is available on a six-month fixed-term basis and will allow the chosen candidate to work with our national governing body during the largest sporting event in the world. This internship presents a rare opportunity to gain experience in writing for a whole host of platforms including website, social media and magazine, and means the right candidate will need to be creative, have strong written skills and a keen eye for detail.

With the sport of shooting having a relatively low profile in the UK, the successful candidate will need to bring fresh ideas to the content role and ensure participation in the sport continues to grow over the coming months. This will mean producing content to promote the grass-roots and development side of target shooting.

As well as generating innovative content, the intern will be actively involved in sports reporting. Our athletes feature in a number of major competitions throughout the sporting calendar and our intern will be expected to cover events remotely, utilising key contacts at the venue to conduct and transcribe interviews, report live via social media and inform local and national press of our successes. Researching and fact-checking, filming and editing video for our YouTube and Social channels, liaising with contributors and performing other tasks across the sportís many digital platforms and events programme will shape the internís day-to-day tasks.

We are looking for an energetic, confident and driven individual who can show they are committed to a career in sports media. Given the nature of the sporting calendar, candidates must be comfortable working unsociable hours and on occasion travel long distances throughout the UK. A passion for sport, social media and journalism is an absolute must, with an interest in target shooting being advantageous, but not essential.

British Shooting is committed to providing equal opportunities for all [and is committed to following best practice in the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults].
