BIOGRAPHY
Peter's route to the top was no fairy tale! He only took up the sport in a serious way after dislocating his left shoulder in a snowboarding accident. Without being able to pursue mainstream sport whilst still at Millfield school in Somerset he chose to shoot one handed once a week at Cheddar Valley Shooting Ground.

He left Millfield, at the age of 18, National Schools Champion in the domestic discipline of English Sporting however without the prospect of financial support he would no longer be able to continue training or competing to the level he'd grown accustomed. To qualify for funding at that time you had to prove your worth on the international stage in one of the 3 Olympic disciplines of Trap, Skeet or Double Trap. In March 2006 after much deliberation Peter chose to focus entirely on Double Trap - 6 months later he won the European Junior Championship in Maribor, Slovenia. From that point on Peter became one of 55 fully funded athletes on the World Class Performance Program over which UK Sport presided.

In September 2008 UK Sport's funding was slashed to cope with the global financial crisis. Under pressure to conform, cuts were implemented to a variety of underperforming sports of which shooting was one. Shooting's World Class Performance Program was restructured almost immediately leaving Peter and 48 other athletes without a shred of financial support.

Peter's parents refused to see him give up after such a short yet fruitful career. They agreed to support him for the next 12 months on an entirely performance related basis.

In the early part of 2009 Athens Olympic Gold Medallist, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Hasher Al Maktoum agreed to coach Peter for free. The pair worked closely together over the next 8 months before Peter was able to regain his place on the World Class Performance Program, completing the year ranked first in Great Britain and later setting a new British Record. Internationally Peter excelled, winning back to back World Cup Gold medals and setting a new Final World Record in Tucson, Arizona.
