The Pony Club was founded nearly 90 years ago and has been a great source of many World Class athletes not only in equestrian events, but also Modern Pentathlon and Shooting to name a few.
Pony Club Tetrathlon combines athletic and technical ability with practical horsemanship and consists of Running, Swimming, Shooting and Horse Riding. The shooting element is a 10 shot Air Pistol competition over 7m or 10m depending on the athletes’ age.
In the past Pony Club has been a strong hunting ground for talented pistol shooters, for example Gorgs Geikie 2012 Olympian and Coral Kennerley, Glasgow 2014 Finalist and Welsh International to name a few.
The Pony Club UK is split into 19 Areas, with a number of Branches and Centres in each, across the country. Tetrathlon competitions happen at inter Branch, Area, National and International level.
A fantastic opportunity for Pony Clubs to get involved in target shooting is the National Schools Pistol Championships.
