Amber Hill has won gold at the Malta World Cup.

The young shooter has performed phenomenally this year reaching five finals, but the ISSF gold in Siggiewi is her first of the 2018 season.

Having won bronze in Mexico in March and Silver in Changwon in April, Hill was determined to not let her chance at top spot slip this time out.

It was fellow namesake Amber English who stood in the way, her score of 48 was no match for Hill's 52.

Scoring a total of 52 to English's 48, Hill was clearly emotional when speaking to journalists after the win.

She said: "I've been working my way up this year and to come away with a gold medal means so much. It's a fantastic feeling and I can't believe it.

"It's been incredible and I have to give a massive thanks to my coach Joe Neville, the whole team at British Shooting, UK Sport and the National Lottery."

Hill qualified for the final in top rank scoring 112, with Elena Allen finishing 34th with a score of 98.

Away from ISSF events, Hill has also impressed at the British Shooting Shotgun Series winning gold and silver in Mid-Wales and South Wales respectively.
