James Bevis has won gold at the Châteauroux 2018 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup.

The phenomenal result from the R9 shooter also means he has secured a GB Quota Place for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Bevis, who won bronze at London 2012, qualified for the final in top spot, having scored 617.7, and he didn’t disappoint in the final scoring 246.5. Italy’s Andrea Liverani won silver scoring 241.0 and Vasyl Kovalchuk won bronze, scoring 220.6.

There was also a Team Gold for Bevis, Ryan Cockbill and Tim Jeffery, whose combined score of 1822.4 was well ahead of Italy in silver who scored 1798.5.

Cockbill also made the individual final but was eliminated in seventh spot.

Speaking after his medal win, Bevis said: "I'm so pleased for winning a gold and securing a GB Quota is perfect. I knew what I had to do in every shot start to finish in both qualifying and final.

"I'm a very proud man to be shooting for my country and honoured to be a member of the British Shooting Team. The support we receive is amazing, the staff behind me are perfect and I couldn't ask for anymore.

"The athletes are awesome and everyone gets on so well, We are one!"
