The biannual Islands Games have just finished as 3000 athletes from 24 member islands and officials from all over the world, return home from this year’s host Island, Jersey.
Shooting was one of the 14 different sports and a month before the opening ceremony, London 2012 Olympian, Gorgs Geikie visited the island on behalf of British Shooting, to help build the enthusiasm for the Games and Shooting.
“It was the first time I’ve visited Jersey and what a great place, fabulous facilities and helpful people there are,” says Gorgs.
Gorgs visited secondary schools inspiring the students in their assemblies into following their dreams, enlightening them about shooting sports and the forthcoming multisport Games in Jersey. She also made a guest appearance on BBC Radio Jersey.
She continued: “I made best use of my visit by also competing in the Channel Island Pistol Championships and staying afterward for a few days training.
"The trip was very successful, returning with three silver medals, some great training in fabulous facilities and inspiring the next generation.”
British Shooting would like to congratulate Jersey for hosting a great Island Games 2015.
