British Shooting is delighted to announce the team selected for the Junior World Cup in Porpetto.
In the Northeast region of Italy, Tiro a Volo Porpetto has been holding the European Youth Grand Prix since 2004. As the home ground of the Olympic Champion Chiara Cainero, Porpetto has seen some of the World’s finest shotgun athletes hone their skills on its excellent ranges.
It is, therefore, a very special place to begin your international shooting career, especially as, this year, the competition in Porpetto has been classified as a Junior World Cup.
Analysis of success within junior competitive environment shows that winning is a product of being exposed to quality international competition. It is for this reason that British Shooting is very pleased to be able to send a strong team of athletes to benefit from this excellent development opportunity. The team is as follows:
Dominic Cooper, Lara Dale, Jack Fairclough, Ed Medforth, Thomas Lewthwaite-Page, David McNeill and Luke Young.
Michael Bovingdon, Augusta Campos Martin, Zara Dunford, Rebecca Ferguson, Lucy Hall, Jake Janes, Theo Ling, Lewis Owen, Georgina Roberts, Ewen Ross and Ellie Seward.
All those selected have shown great commitment to their shooting development. Some are now very experienced and are looking to hone their skills and demonstrate their winning potential as they move to the senior ranks next year. For others, the opportunity lies in seeing what good looks like and learning how to manage at a major competition.
The coaching team of Anita North, John Bellamy and David Dale is also looking to learn more about coaching at International events.
Christian Schofield, team manager and coach, said: “This is a marvellous opportunity to learn and compete in a very supportive international environment. We are all looking forward to this very exciting development opportunity.”
