Ed Ling has won silver at the ISSF Shotgun World Championships in Moscow.

The Trap shooter was just three shots off the gold medal spot and shot fantastically against some very strong competition.

It was Italy’s Daniele Resca who came out on top with a score of 43.

The bronze medal went to Jiri Liptak.

Speaking after the win, Ling said: “It’s a great feeling to have won silver in the World Championships.

“I didn’t get off to a great start in the final as I missed a few giving me a bit of work to do but in the end I was delighted to come away in second spot.

"The medal match was really tough as Italy’s Alberto Fernandez is a great shooter

“The scores today show how tight the competition is in Trap that seven shooters finished qualification on the same score of 121 – luckily I managed to keep my head and secure my spot in the final through the shoot-off.

“It’s been great out here in Moscow and I’d like to thank British Shooting, UK Sport and the National Lottery, Cheddite Cartridges and Mario Perazzi, for the support they’ve given me to help me get to this position.”

Also competing for GB were Aaron Heading and Matt Coward-Holley who unfortunately didn’t make it through qualification.
