British Shooting would like to express its gratitude for the support shown by Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Sport and Civil Society Tracey Crouch surrounding the inclusion of shooting sports in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
In a debate held at the House of Commons on Wednesday 27th June, MP for Dumfries and Galloway, Alistair Jack, moved for the discussion in which he expressed his concern that shooting had not being included in the 2022 sport programme.
There were a whole host of positive comments made by the Minister in a conversation that included the history success of home nations, potential venue options, medal opportunities and equality. Although the Minister did explain that it is beyond her remit to reverse any decision surrounding the inclusion of shooting sport in Birmingham.
Having observed the debate with great interest, British Shooting now hopes the Commonwealth Games Federation, Birmingham’s Organising Committee and the ISSF will be able to find a successful solution to including shooting sports in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
