British Shooting is delighted to reveal the ‘Race to the Grand Final’ standings for 2018.
The Standings show which athletes are in pole position to qualify for the season ending Grand Final Competition that is the pinnacle event of the British Shooting Shotgun Series.
Amber Hill and Ben Llewellin currently top the OSK senior standings with Steve Scott and Kirsty Barr occupying first place in the men’s and women’s OT standings respectively.
Allan Ritchie has perfect score of 3 to currently sit top of the Para Trap standings, with Lewis Owen and Augusta Campos Martyn currently leading the OT Juniors and Dominic Cooper leads the junior OSK men. Senior and Junior OSK women are merged into one category.
As part of the Race to the Grand Final, athletes generate a score based on their best finishing positions in each of the 3 Shotgun Series rounds that have now all been completed. Athletes can also substitute one of these scores for a wildcard score achieved at a recognised British Shooting event. The standings are then created with the lowest scoring athletes making the top spot in their respective disciplines.
It is also important to note that the Race to the Grand Final is still ‘live’ with opportunities for some athletes to appear on, or climb the leader boards based on upcoming events like the European and World Championships and the Italian Green Cup.
The standings will be updated again in mid-August and once the final qualifying event (World Championships) is complete the Race to the Grand Final will close and the standings will be fully confirmed.
Performance Operations Manager Alex Ballard said: “Last year’s Grand Final was a brilliant event and we hope the 2018 competition will be even better. We have seen some fantastic shooting at the Shotgun Series rounds since the first event back in March and what’s been really pleasing is the number of juniors who have entered the competitions.
"The Race to the Grand Final standings show we have some exceptional talent in both OT and OSK and we are looking forward to crowning the first Shotgun Series Champions at the Grand Final at Fauxdegla on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd September."
(Failure to do so will result in the athlete place being vacated. Anyone who currently sits in a qualification position who doesn’t intend to compete at Fauxdegla should notify us ASAP via email@example.com).
