The British Shooting rifle team continued to show excellent form over the weekend as they secured two team silvers and an individual bronze medal at Plzen.
Jen McIntosh struck a seam of excellent form in all her events. A huge 589 in 3x20 saw her fight hard in the final for a third place finish and bronze medal against some world-class competition.
A competitive 418.0 from McIntosh in AR was enough to make the final where she finished in seventh place. Whilst a solid 622.3 (6th place) helped her deliver a Team Silver and a new GB record, alongisde Lina Jones (620.7) and Katie Gleeson (623.7).
Gleeson also shot a PB in 3 x 20 of 586 and in doing so, made the final and finished in sixth place and continuing a vein of rich form. Together with Seonaid McIntosh, who also shot a PB of 584, helped the team to a massive new GB record team score beating the old record by no less than 31 points. This was enough for a Team Silver medal. Also, Zoe Bruce (AMTC and GB) shot a new PB of 573.
Academy athlete Mike Bargeron shot a PB in 3 x 40 of 1151 and a major match MCS in Prone just missing another PB in that event.
Neil Stirton of Scotland and GB was using this event to transition from prone to 3 x 40 and shot his second 1153 in a week, making a solid start to this process.
These excellent results build on those in Berlin from the week before and the team has now moved to Hannover for the ISCH competition in advance of the World Cup in Munich.
