Steve Scott performed incredibly to win Trap Silver at the Emir Cup on Sunday.
The GB shooter has been transitioning from Double Trap to Olympic Trap since DT was removed from the Olympic Programme mid-last year.
And it looks as though the move to the new discipline is coming on very nicely as not only did the shooter meet two qualifying scores needed to shoot for GB in Olympic Trap, he overcame a three-way qualification shoot-off to reach the final.
But his fantastic performance didn’t end there. Despite qualifying for the final in sixth place, the Rio bronze medallist went on to win silver!
There was also a GB Team Gold for Brad Davis, Aaron Heading and Nathan Hales and a 5th place individual finish for Aaron Heading.
Speaking after the win, Scotty said: “I’m so happy. I feel so comfortable with my Perazzi high tech now. It’s taken a while to get used to it, but now it’s set up exactly how I like it and finally feel like I have a great connection. It feels amazing when I do it right.
“Big, big thank you to Mauro Perazzi for believing in me and supporting me in my transition to Olympic Trap. I also joined the Pilla team this year so a big thank you to Phil Pilla for giving me that leading edge and of course to British Shooting and UK Sport for funding me and enabling me to work with my coach and without a shadow of a doubt the main reason for my success and performance over the past 6 years Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum.
“On top of that, I would like to congratulate my team mate Aaron Heading for shooting a huge score of 123 and to the GBR team (Bradley, Aaron and Nathan) for winning gold!”
