The British Shooting Paralympic Programme squad won their third Silver medal in as many days at ISCH in Hannover as Lorraine Lambert and Ryan Cockbill added to Matt Skelhon's earlier podium place.
In R8 (50m Rifle 3P Women SH1) Lambert was up against Veronika Vadivicova of Slovakia who had pipped Skelhon to Gold in R6. She qualified third with a score of 566 in poor conditions. She managed to thaw her hands out for the final and recovered from a poor start in the kneeling to post solid scores in the standing and prone elements to take silver behind Vadivicova. She also finished eighth in R3 (10m Air Rifle Prone Mixed SH1) in a field of 43 shooters.
GB had two representatives in the R4 (10m Air Rifle Standing SH2) final. Cockbill qualified in fourth place with Tim Jeffery just behind in sixth. Jeffery's challenge for medals faltered early as he was the first to be eliminated but Cockbill kept on hitting the big scores to win Silver behind Vasyl Kovalchuk of Ukraine. The athletes he finished above included the Gold and Silver medallists from Rio 2016. Cockbill will look to continue his rich vein of form in the R5 competition.
Stewart Nangle narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the P4 (50m Pistol Mixed SH1) final after qualifying second. Issy Bailey was 20th. Nangle and Bailey still have their respective air pistol events to come where GB will be hopeful of further medal success.
