The eagerly anticipated Target Sprint Series 2017 is finally underway after the first event of the year took place at Wycliffe College in Gloucester on Friday.
The event, which was introduced to the UK last year and culminated in an entrapping Championship Final in Cardiff, is an exciting new way of getting involved in target shooting.
Participants run 400 metres before shooting down five targets with a rifle. They then run another 400 metres, shoot five more targets and then complete a final 400 metre run.
Congratulations to all the athletes who were competing to qualify for the National Final to be held on Saturday 9th September at YOSC (Yate Outdoor Sports Complex). Those who qualified are:
YOUTH FEMALE (11-15 years)
JUNIOR FEMALE (16-20 year)
YOUTH MALE (11-15 years)
JUNIOR MALE (16-20 years)
The fastest time on the day went to Thomas Bury with a phenomenal time of 6mins 19secs , with the fastest female time going to Araminta Stubbs at 6mins 48secs. These fantastic times due to the slightly extended course on the day.
The event is great for those who love shooting but want to keep active, but equally good for those who love running but fancy mixing it up a little bit.
We would like to thank our Target Sprint Series Partner Air Arms, Wycliffe College for kindly hosting the event and our fabulous team of volunteers. All of which contributed to making this a fantastic start to the National Series 2017.
