British Shooting is pleased to publish the World Class Programme (WCP) Selection Policy for 2018/19.
As we move towards 2019 and with athletes now competing for Olympic quota places, the latest policy aims to support our main objective of selecting shooters with the most potential to win the medals on the Olympic stage.
Performance Operations Manager, Alex Ballard, said: “As the excitement builds towards Tokyo 2020 we are very pleased to be sharing the WCP selection policy for 2018 19.
"The policy largely reflects the previous years version but with some changes included around selection to the British Shooting Academy Programme (BSAP).
"We have also spent time trying to make the policy more user friendly by leading with key information such as the selection criteria. This, along with the frequently asked questions (FAQ) sheet we have produced will hopefully make it easier for athletes and anyone interested to understand how selection to the WCP works.
“We absolutely encourage athletes to read the policy in full and use the frequently asked questions sheet to help get a full understanding of the key aspects of the WCP selection document, some of the wider issues around selection and the purpose of the WCP. Policies like this one are necessarily detailed but are often difficult to fully understand so we hope the FAQ document will help everyone get to grips with the important elements of the policy and understand what it takes to get onto the WCP."
