For the sixth consecutive year FITAV, the Italian governing body of Shotgun shooting competitions organized and hosted an international Grand Prix dedicated to Paralympic athletes shooting Olympic Trap.
The competition, held between October 28th and October 30th at the Academia Lombarda Shooting Range in Pavia (ITA), saw the participation of 72 athletes coming from 15 countries.
Twelve of these athletes were from Great Britain. This included Annabelle Mackendrick, Becky Porte, Paul Bailey, Anthony Evans, George Glover, Mathew Goodwin, Steve Ling, Keith Shields, Matthew Skelhon, Alec Sperling, Craig Williams, & Andrew Womble.
Four shooters represented Great Britain in the six-man final, two in the standing supported category and two in the sitting category. Bailey and Goodwin, sitting, had a sudden death shoot off with Lai of Italy to get into the medal match. Unfortunately, this year it wasn't to be with Lai going through to the medal matches.
Goodwin finished 5th overall after shooting a superb competition score of 110 leading all the way up until the finals, with Bailey coming in 6th with an overall score of 102. Ling & Womble standing supported, shot very well with Ling finishing on 107 and finishing 5th overall. Special honours have to go to Womble for shooting a superb overall score of 113, getting straight into the Gold medal match and winning Gold for the Great British team.
Many thanks go to Steve Dart, Denise Humphries, Jane Shields & Julie Sperling– without their fantastic help amd support most would not have managed on their own.
