I have been privileged to build a career in the world of sport for most of my working life. I was one of the early Sports Science graduates; originating from Wolverhampton, my early career began in sport and leisure management in Berkshire and south London, moving from sports coaching and facilities management to marketing and event management. A move into the commercial sector took me into the highly competitive Regional Newspaper industry where I led a project that merged a number of departments to create the largest free newspaper distribution hub in the country which I then led until a return to sport beckoned. I joined the British Olympic Association to lead the sports science, medicine and applied research service, originally at the British Olympic Medical Centre but then created the Olympic Medical Institute, providing a unique environment for intensive residential rehabilitation for injured athletes and a number of specialist clinics, served by an expert multi-disciplinary team in a clinical setting. This was a successful exercise in partnership development, working directly with UK Sport, the English Institute of Sport, UK Athletics and other NGBs and commercial partners including adidas, Coca Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Life Fitness and Polar.

I live in West Berkshire and Pembrokeshire with my wife, our children having long since left to set up their own homes.

“I am a Chartered Chemical Engineer and have worked in the chemical, oil and gas industries. Ultimately becoming CEO of the Calor Group plc and a senior vice president of a large global company based in Utrecht. Thus I have lived and worked in both the UK and the Netherlands, gaining experience in business planning, organisational development and performance improvement.

On retiring from corporate life I became a mentor and coach in both the private and public sectors including UK Sport and the English Institute of Sport. I am delighted to be the first independent chair of British Shooting. It is a privilege and honour to chair the board of the shooting NGB that is responsible for the development, selection and preparation of athletes for the Olympic and Paralympic Games - the very pinnacle of the sport.

The general public fund us through taxation and by buying lottery tickets, thus my main job is to ensure that we satisfy our funding stakeholders, UK Sport and Sport England, and deliver as much success as is possible.

Chief Executive Officer
I have been the CEO of British Shooting since 2012 and, in this role, I'm a member of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) and the National Paralympic Committee (NPC). I have been at the forefront of some of the most exciting and successful initiatives in sport in the UK over the past 25 years.

A former international track athlete, I'm also an independent Director of Commonwealth Games England and a Non-Executive Director of England Lacrosse. At Sport England I was Head of Governing Bodies, which followed two years as Head of World Class Programmes and was part of the team that developed the lottery investment system that has played such a big part in transforming elite sport in the UK.

I have considerable multi-sport Games experience having been an integral part of the planning and delivery of the event and teams in 4 Commonwealth Games. As a consultant, I advised on venue and technical planning for London 2012, and was appointed a member of the FCO Olympics and Paralympics Legacy Team. I have been a policy adviser to Governments at home and abroad, and consultant to a wide range of national and international sports federations.

I'm based at Bisley and responsible for the range complex (largest in Europe). I have been shooting since the age of eight – including game, rough, clay target and rifle shooting.

I've Previously worked for 10 years as CEO for large agricultural / horse charity and developed events venue attracting 850k visitors each year; then spent nearly three happy years on a restoration project for historic castle and gardens in the Lake District.

I like to think I bring business discipline and a dash of entrepreneurship to traditional charities. I enjoy epic walks with beloved lurchers.

I have been engaged in business, marketing and digital consultancy since the 90’s – following an earlier career with P&G, NCR, in sales promotion and sales motivation. I am a founder and Chairman of Palladium Group – a digitally focussed management consultancy and a founder and Executive Director of Pancentric, a digital agency. His recent experience is advising businesses in terms of their deployment of digital strategies, increasing their brand awareness online and improving their marketing efficiency and effectiveness.

I am married with two sons, live in Surrey – on the Olympic cycle route – and felt compelled to do the 'Prudential 100' as it passed by his door. I'm also a keen tennis player, swimmer and would sail a great deal more given the opportunity.
